A Happy New Year everyone and thank you for your continued partnership. 2017 had been another momentous year for us as we continued to innovate and improve ourselves to serve all our partners better. Testimonial of Our Commitment to Our Partners We are heartened to be named Satellite Operator of the Year for the third-year running at the Asia Communication Awards (ACA). The judges commended Singtel’s cyber security focus and commitment to partnership in driving the maritime sector and emerging market, while also affirming our product innovation and strong customer focus. This accolade means a lot to us and it certainly motivates us to continually lead the industry in rolling out new and compelling solutions that will deliver operational efficiencies and cost benefits for our valued customers and partners. Our teleports retained their 9th placing in the Global Top Twenty 2017, recently announced by the World Teleport Association (WTA), which ranked the revenue from all sources and operators (including uplinkers to satellite carriers, fiber network operators, system integrators, technology providers and specialised satcom service providers). Singtel is the first teleport operator in Asia Pacific to make it into the top 10 of the listing. In a recent Customer Experience survey conducted by an independent research company, we received very positive feedback from all of our partners with regard to service excellence which will only serve to motivate us to continue to do better. Moving Ahead In times of technology disruption and the ever-evolving marketplace, Singtel sees the importance of staying close to our customers to better understand their needs and challenges. Besides closer partner engagement, we had also embarked on streamlining our processes to enhance our operational excellence. To address our partners’ business challenges, our business focus in 2018 will be on intensifying our innovation push to focus on service improvement for better operational performance and solutions to help our partners lower their connectivity cost via satellite as well as for greater diversity. We will also continue to focus on cyber security to help our customers better protect themselves in the new digital era. We had just launched two new products to provide greater peace of mind and to help our partners save more with our Sat BoD (Bandwidth-on-Demand) and Sat Secure services. These are essentially satellite based back up services. These new solutions seek to provide our partners with continuous access to connectivity via satellite to protect against Submarine cable cuts or terrestrial connectivity outages, at an affordable investment starting from just USD3.33 per day. In addition, our partnership with UHP Networks Inc. to roll out a new managed satellite hub system, will allow our partners to boost data throughput and save up to 20% of bandwidth resources in VSAT TDMA systems. Sharpened Focus on IoT and Cyber Security We continue to witness the explosion of data generated by connected devices, against a backdrop of fast-evolving technological changes. As more intelligent data is being transmitted to uncover actionable insights that will help to increase operational efficiencies, securing the pipeline becomes increasingly critical. Businesses can only leverage the full benefits of IoT when they are able to navigate the complexities of the multitude of IoT endpoints, applications and data, with proven expertise that is backed by a reliable and secure IT infrastructure. Against this need and as the industry moves towards Smart Shipping, securing onboard intelligence, system infrastructure and networks, and ship-shore communications against malicious attacks become increasingly critical. Through our partnership with Inmarsat, we will be rolling out a complete shore-to-vessel solution to secure the end-to-end pipeline and data transmission in 2018. Shore communications are currently secured by the AIO SmartGuard, a shore firewall solution that secures shore-ship communications and prevent cyber threats from Internet cloud. This will be further enhanced on the vessel-side by the software-based Unified Threat Management (UTM) powered by Trustwave (Singtel’s cyber security arm). This UTM will be integrated with the Inmarsat’s Onboard device. With this new solution, we will offer full end-to-end shore-to-ship solutions to help maritime companies meet rapidly evolving cyber threats, globally. Our amplified focus on cyber security also means enhanced service delivery levels to our customers with round-the-clock security monitoring of customers traffic passing through our teleport backed by Trustwave’s threat intelligence and technology, which provide always-on managed security services that offer the highest level of resiliency. Strengthening Our Ecosystem Beside securing the pipes, Singtel signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Alpha Ori, as part of our on-going strategy to build a strong ecosystem to facilitate our customers’ IoT adoption. This will enforce our drive to help customers better manage their business and vessels, reduce cost and improve efficiency. We will continue to give back to the industry through our MOU with the Singapore Maritime Academy (SMA), as we play our part in nurturing the next generation of maritime workforce. Crew welfare remains top-of-mind at Singtel. In 2018, our FleetBroadband customers can look forward to enhanced crew services which we will share more soon. Creative Perspectives.
